Jacob Byrd drove in three runs and Cordell Stephens drove in two, and Solomon Muhammad struck out 15 Wenonah batters as Parker beat the Dragons, 8-1, in a Class 5A, Area 9 game.

Byrd had a double, three RBIs and a run scored for the Herd (8-2, 1-0), and Stephens went 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs scored.

Muhammad (3-1) pitched six innings, allowing no runs with one walk. Tommie Neely pitched one inning for Parker, allowing one unearned run on no hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

For Wenonah (2-1, 1-1), Tyler Thornton and Ted Garner each had one hit. Garner was also the losing pitcher, giving up eight runs, four earned, on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts.  Complete article
