Wenonah 38, Woodlawn 12: Dragons roll up 307 yards

Carlos Rogers ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more and Keontay Jones added 165 yards on 16 carries as No. 6 Wenonah (2-0, 1-0) opened Class 5A, Region 5 play with a 38-12 victory over winless Woodlawn (0-3, 0-1) tonight.

Rogers, who accounted for three touchdowns in last week’s victory over Midfield, ran for 7, 1 and 1 yard touchdowns and threw touchdown passes of 22 yards to Chase Green and 25 yards to Anthony Hudson.

Rogers finished 4-of-10 for 108 yards and rushed for 55 yards on 12 carries.

Jones rushed for 103 yards on nine carries in the second half as the Dragons didn’t attempt a pass after the break. He capped the scoring with a 44-yard touchdown run.

The Dragons rolled up 415 total yards, including 307 yards on 45 attempts on the ground.

Courtney McGhee added 76 yards on nine carries, all in the second half.
